Rules for a Southern Prep

1. Always compose yourself like a lady, even when it seems hard.

2. Only wear white from Easter until Labor Day.

3. Being appriciative and gracious is vital. Thank you cards are a must.

4. It is far better to be overdressed than underdressed.

5. Alway refer to elders as Sir and Ma'am. It's basic respect.

6. Never swear in public. It's obnoxious, rude and you never know if young ears are around.

7. Always be warm, welcoming and charming. It will get you far in life.

Summer 2011. Please hurry.

I know it's not even february yet, but I can't even express how ready I am for it to be summer! Especially now since all the stores are getting in their spring stuff (i.e. Lilly, Vineyard Vines, Tory Burch, everywhere!). So what I'm wondering is, why must they get  in so early? I believe it is so they can tease me with false hopes of shorts and sun-kissed skin. Making me want to go to the beach more than ever, but instead I'm cooped up in my house on a massive snow break (the worst kind of break, if you ask me) and I can't go anywhere because my road hasn't even been plowed yet (it's been 3 days!). A sever case of cabin fever to say the least. So how have I been spending these last 72 hours you may ask? Online shopping. Specifically for my spring and summer wardrobe. Here are a few things I've picked up:

1. Vineyard Vines Floppy Hat with Grammets
This hat + a white tunic+ a baby pink triangle bikini= Summer love

2. Kiel James Patrick Mariner & Cape Poge Bay
I know I've been talking about KJP a lot lately, but that's because I am in love with the eponymous brand. The bracelets are classic prep and not to mention Kiel James Patrick, the man himself, is straight up gorgeous.

3. Rikshaw Design Taj Paisley Lavender Kurta
I love tunics. And with their lightweight material and flowy feel, they are quintessentially summer.

4. Vineyard Vines Party Shirt
This one isn't exactly for my summer wardrobe, but it's so pretty I just had to have it. I am willing to risk a uniform violation demerit just to wear this to school. Also, it's an oxford and I love oxfords.

5. Lilly Pulitzer Tate Skirt- Printed
one-tenth of Lilly's Lilly Wishlist- Spring Edition, has been fulfilled.

6.  2 Preppy Girls Car Monogram Decal
I love monograms and I love my car, so why not combine the two? The Jeep is officially ready for summer!

7. 2 Preppy Girls Monogram Cell Phone Sticker
Monograms <3<3<3
Summer 2011 <3

Lilly Pulitzer Spring 2011!

I just realized that the name of my blog is dedicated to Lilly Pulitzer, and  I have yet to do a post completely about the amazing line. So, In celebration of it's release today, I present to you my wishlist from the Lilly Pulitzer Spring 2011 line.

1. Thermal mug in the 'Do The Wave' (The orange and blue one) pattern. Travel mugs are ALWAYS disappearing around my house. What better way to have a cup that stands out and is easy to find than with the Lilly mugs? I already have the 'Checking In' one and I absolutely love it!

2. iPad and iPhone cover in the 'You're Flagged' pattern. I really like my current iPad and iPhone covers, but I love how these ones say 'Lilly' on it. I can never find anything that has my name on it and when I do, it's always spelled wrong. That's why whenever I see a Lilly product that actually says 'Lilly' somewhere on it, I always get it because I like to pretend it was made especially for me!

3. The luggae tag in 'You're Flagged' for the same reasons stated above. I have a feeling I'll be getting a lot of things in the 'You're Flagged' pattern :)

4. The Adelson Shift Jacquard. You can never have to many shifts! I absolutely love the neck and hem embellishments on this one.

5. The Tate Skirt- Printed. The hemline on this is so fun! I love it!

6. The Hannah Sweater Argyle Stripe. I love stripes because it reminds me of being nautical and the ocean and who doesn't love the ocean? Also, sweaters are a basic wardrobe staple!

7. The Ricci Shift Printed. Like I said before, you can never have to many shifts! Also, the neckline on this is so pretty!

8. The Set in Stone sandal. I am pretty tall (somewhere around 5' 10"/5' 11") and I absolutely hate wearing wedges, but I love all the wedges that Lilly makes! That's why I love these sandals, because they're the same design as the Set in Stone wedge, but they won't make me 6' 2".

9. The Sweet Pea necklace. This is such a pretty necklace in a pretty color!

Pretty much, I'm in love.

Kiel James Patrick

I was with a friend the other day when she told me about the Kiel James Patrick bracelets. I was both in love with the bracelets and a little mad at myself for never having heard of them before. Does that make me a bad prep? I think it might. Maybe it's because I don't ride horses that I didn't know. At least that's what I'm telling myself.
Self disappointment aside, I just had to pick up one (or two) for myself.
I got the 'Becky Sharp'

And the 'Mariner & Cape Poge Bay'

They remind me so much of the Cape and they're getting me even more excited for summer than I already am!

I WANT THIS SO SO SO MUCH!!!!!

Tory Burch read my mind.  This is the purse of my dreams.

My Obsessions- Week of Jan. 23

1. Winter Sales!
I went shopping this past weekend and the sales were insane! Vineyard Vines, Ralph Lauren, J. Crew, Lilly Pulizter, Lacoste, Saks, EVERYWHERE!!!!! It's amazing.

2. Vineyard Vines Collegiate Totes
What better way to show pride for my college of choice than through two of some of my favorite things; Totes and Vineyard Vines.

* Clemson University Tote by Vineyard Vines

3. Lilly Pulitzer Murfee Scarf
It's the dead of the sad, sad winter. The best way to add color to a currently colorless world? The Lilly Pulitzer Murfee Scarf Collection. They take the brightness and cheeriness that is quintessentially Lilly and concentrate it into the most comfortable scarves ever!

* Lilly Pulitzer Murfee Scarf in Booty Caw

4. Matchbook Mag
It's an online magazine launched just this month! It covers all aspects to help cultivate the well rounded prep with everything from fashion to travel to great gift ideas. I can tell it will become a favorite of mine very, very quickly.

So, those are my obsessions for this week! Check back next week for a new set of obsessions. And remember, preppy is pretty!

My Everyday Essentials

1. Diamond Studs
They add class to any outfit. I wear them almost everyday.

* Tiffany solitaire diamond earings

2. A Sturdy Leather Watch
A simple classic. It goes with everything. Also, I always know what time it is!

* Bulova Women's 64M101 Brown Leather Swiss Quartz Goldtone Watch

3. A signature scent
Every year on their anniversary, my grandfather would give my grandmother the same perfume. It was her signature scent. Now, every time someone smells it, they are instantly reminded of her. It's so important to have a signature scent because it gives everyone something to remember you by. My signature scent is the light and floral Daisy by Marc Jacobs. I spritz in on everyday before I leave the house.

4. Oxfords!
Oxfords, oxfords, oxfords. They're absolutely my favorite thing to wear. They're my indispensable wardrobe basic. You can wear them with jeans, pants, skirts, shorts, sweaters, everything! My personal favorite oxfords are the Solid Skinny Oxfords from Ralph Lauren. They have any amazing fit and are a lot more flattering than any other oxford out there.

So, there you have it! My daily essentials. I don't know where I would be without these four things! They're lifesavers.
